2026 King’s gate faSt

Dear King’s Gate Family,

As we begin this new year together, we are keenly aware that we are living in significant and God-appointed times. Scripture reminds us that there are moments when heaven intersects history in fresh ways—when what God has been speaking quietly begins to take visible form. We sense that we are stepping into one of those moments.

Over the past season, the Lord has been faithfully shaping us, refining us, and establishing us in our place. In the last year, we witnessed meaningful breakthroughs—both personally and corporately—and we believe those were not an end, but a beginning. As we step into this year, there is a clear sense that something new is breaking forth among us.

For this reason, we are setting aside this time at the beginning of the year to cultivate the rhythms that make room for Him. This is not about striving, but about abiding. It is a time to realign our hearts, sharpen our vision, and deepen our intimacy with Him.

As we do this, we do so with confidence in the promise of Scripture: “The people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” Our strength flows from knowing Him, and our fruitfulness flows from intimacy. Together, we are moving forward—forgetting what lies behind and stepping boldly into all that God has prepared for us.

We look forward to walking this journey with you and seeing all that the Lord will do among us in the days ahead.

Love and Appreciate you All,
Pastor Chris

2026 Fast Guidelines

Fast Duration: January 11th at 6pm until 6am January 31st  (21 Days)

Purpose: The true purpose of fasting is the clearing away of life’s clutter to lean into the loving arms of the Father.  It is an act of consecration and declaration to the Father that He alone is our source and the highest of our pursuits.  We learn to Feed on, and live through Him as Jesus did(John 6:56-57). All too often we can become complacent, resting in the judicial accomplishment of the Cross instead of realizing that it is a door into experiencing so much more intimately with God!  During this time we will focus on cultivating the following rhythms:

I.    Communion: As the early church understood, The Lord’s Table is a place of thanksgiving. let your heart be filled with gratitude and awe as you approach this covenant meal. The Lord spoke to me about three things that happen when we commune with Him around His Table:

  1. Our eyes are opened to see Him in places and ways that we never have before. He adjust our gaze in any place it is out of alignment and we begin to behold Him as He is. (Luke 24:30-31)

  2. Our ears are opened to hear the rhema (specific, directive) part of His voice and Word. (Matthew 4:4)

  3. We come into greater dependency on the life of Jesus in us, and learn to live out of that place. (John 6:56-57)

II.    Devotion: Read or Listen to the Word. Let it dwell in you richly, meditate on it, treasure it. Expect to see and hear things through it that you never have before. Expect to encounter the Person and Nature of Jesus as you commune with Him through His Word. Practice stillness, resting in His finished work. If you need direction on where to begin in Scripture, I suggest reading the Gospel of John if as a starting point.

Please Note: When fasting it is most beneficial to limit television and other media. Remember that what you allow through the eye and ear gates affect your soul and your life. If you do watch television or engage any form of media, use Philippians 4:8 as a litmus test to determine what is acceptable:

”Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.“

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬

Key Scriptures (PLEASE READ THESE): Luke 24:25-49, John 6:43-58, John 4:27-42

Our primary focus will be on cultivating the two areas above. However, as most of us have come to realize, natural food can become a pseudo comforter in our lives. One guideline I would suggest is that if you are consuming a food as a means of providing relief or comfort, it would be better to redirect that time to the above two practices. Jesus clearly tells us that there is Food to eat that is not natural in origin (John 4:31-34).

If you would like direction on how to additionally engage the Fast by refraining from certain foods, below is an approach I have found effective. However, there are many ways to practice fasting outside of this. Some people may choose to skip one meal per day, some may refrain from only sweets, etc. Remember food is not the focus here, but do be open to the Holy Spirit’s guidance:
