True sons and daughters don’t strive to earn the Father’s approval — they rest in a love that was secured before they ever did anything right or wrong. Pastor Chris takes us back to the simplest and most liberating truth in Scripture: you are loved, not for what you do, but for who you are to God.
In this message, Pastor Chris revisits the heart of the Gospel through the lens of sonship. Drawing from Romans 8, Galatians 4, and the parable of the prodigal son, he unpacks how religious performance and fear-based devotion keep us from fully receiving the Father’s love. The younger son in Jesus’ parable came home with a rehearsed speech, ready to earn back his place as a servant. But the Father interrupted it with a robe, a ring, and a celebration — restoring him to full sonship before he could prove himself. This is the nature of grace. Pastor Chris also addresses the older son’s response: outwardly obedient, inwardly resentful, never having received what was always freely his. The message challenges us to examine which son we identify with, and invites both into the same truth: the Father runs to us. The robe is the righteousness of Christ. The ring is authority. The feast is the fullness of life He offers. Nothing we can do will make Him love us more, and nothing we’ve done can make Him love us less. This is the foundation everything else is built on.
